Desis for Progress Presents: ADA Anniversary Disability Workshop

Thursday, July 09, 2020 9:59 AM | SABA DC Communications (Administrator)

This month marks the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! Following the success of our 2019 event on South Asians and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Desis for Progress (DFP) is hosting a workshop on disability justice led by Noor Pervez & Dr. Sarmistha Talukdar.

The workshop will cover:

  • the difference between disability rights and disability justice;
  • the 10 principles of disability justice;
  • physical, cognitive, and spatial accessibility needs when planning events and conferences; and
  • how to make your organization’s programming and/or your activism more accessible.

The $10 registration fee will go towards facilitation fees & future DFP programming. We have a limited number of scholarships available for community members who have financial restrictions. Please email us at info@desisforprogress.org and we will work to accommodate you.

ASL interpretation is available upon request.

When: Thursday, July 23rd, 6:00pm-7:30pm EST
