Lina Khan
Lina Khan was recently sworn in as the chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission. Ms. Khan was appointed by President Biden to the position, who may name any commissioner to lead the agency, which investigates antitrust violations, deceptive trade practices and data privacy lapses in Silicon Valley and throughout corporate America. Ms. Khan is the youngest chair in the FTC's history.
Prior to becoming head of the FTC, Khan was an Associate Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. She also previously served as counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law, legal adviser to FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra, and legal director at the Open Markets Institute.
Khan’s scholarship on antitrust and competition policy has been published in the Columbia Law Review, Harvard Law Review, University of Chicago Law Review, and Yale Law Journal. She is a graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School.

Gurbir Grewal
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal was recently appointed director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's enforcement division, effective July 26.
Before becoming New Jersey Attorney General, Mr. Grewal served as Bergen County Prosecutor, the chief law enforcement officer of the most populous county in New Jersey and home to nearly 1 million residents living in 70 municipalities. From 2010 to 2016, Mr. Grewal worked as an Assistant United States Attorney (“AUSA”) in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, where he served as Chief of the Economic Crimes Unit from 2014 to 2016 and oversaw the investigation and prosecution of all major white collar and cybercrimes in the District of New Jersey.
Before becoming a federal prosecutor in New Jersey, Mr. Grewal also served as an AUSA in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York from 2004 to 2007, where he was ultimately assigned to the Business and Securities Fraud Unit. In addition to his work as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Grewal has also worked in private practice, including at Howrey LLP (from 1999 to 2004 in Washington, D.C., and from 2008 to 2010 in New York, NY).
Mr. Grewal graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1995. He obtained his law degree from the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 1999.

A.J. Dhaliwal
A.J. Dhaliwal recently joined SheppardMullin as Special Counsel in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group.
Mr. Dhaliwal has over a decade of experience helping banks, non-bank financial institutions, and other companies providing financial products and services in a wide range of matters including government enforcement actions, civil litigation, regulatory examinations, and internal investigations.
With a diversified regulatory, compliance, and enforcement background, Mr. Dhaliwal counsels financial institutions in matters involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau since it was first established, having served as counsel in numerous investigations, enforcement actions, and supervisory matters. Beyond his CFPB work, Mr. Dhaliwal frequently represents institutions in matters initiated by many other federal agencies. Mr. Dhaliwal's enforcement and bank and consumer regulatory experience, includes federal and state consumer protection statutes.
Mr. Dhaliwal is active in the District of Columbia Bar, where he serves on the Board of Governors. He is a past president of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, DC (SABA-DC) and has been recognized as a Rising Star by SABA North America.
