A Conversation about National Security with the former Chief Legal Officer for the NSA, Raj De

Please join SABA-DC as we host Rajesh De, current chairman of Mayer Brown's Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice and former Chief Legal Officer for the NSA on Tuesday, October 27 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The conversation will focus on Mr. De's career path, key issues relating to privacy and security, and the prestige of government service. Light refreshments will be served during the reception.

Rajesh (Raj) De rejoined Mayer Brown this year after serving as the General Counsel for the National Security Agency. After nearly two decades in private practice and public service across all three branches of the United States government, Mr. De is one of the most trusted voices in Washington, DC.  He served as the chief legal officer for NSA and as the principal legal advisor to the NSA Director.  Prior to joining NSA, Mr. De served as Staff Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President. In that position, he reviewed all written materials for the President to ensure proper presentation of issues, accurate reflection of senior staff’s views, and timely provision of daily briefing materials. From January 2009 to August 2010, when he joined the White House, Mr. De served in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy, first as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General and then as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General.  From 2008-2009 he served as General Counsel to the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism. From 2003-2004 he served as Counsel to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the “9/11 Commission”).  Mr. De now leads Mayer Brown’s global Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice.
