August Dinner Series: The Senate Immigration Bill and the Status of Comprehensive Immigration Reform

The need for comprehensive immigration reform is a universally
accepted fact and both the Obama Administration and Congress have made this reform an important goal.   However, the scope and details of that reform have been far more difficult to agree upon.  Join SABA-DC as we discuss S. 744, the Senate Immigration Bill, what may happen with the Senate bill in the House of Representatives and contemplate the steps that need to occur for comprehensive reform to happen.

Erin E. Oshiro is the Immigration & Immigrants’ Rights Senior Staff Attorney at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC.Before joining Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, Ms. Oshiro spent four years in private practice with the New York-based law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel where she focused on securities law. After graduating law school, Ms. Oshiro was an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Welfare Law Center in New York. Ms. Oshiro holds a juris doctorate and bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Los Angeles. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
