Narrow the Wealth Gap: A Networking Event Presenting Pro Bono Opportunities in Economic Empowerment

Sponsored by: D.C. Bar Estates, Trusts and Probate Law Community

One of the greatest challenges the Biden-Harris administration is expected to face is narrowing the rapidly widening racial wealth gap, especially in light of the economic and social struggles accompanying COVID-19. This networking event will introduce various pro bono opportunities for the D.C. Bar community to further economic justice and provide attendees informal and vibrant small and large group discussion forums with breakout sessions to share their ideas, suggestions, and stories on how our legal community is working to narrow the wealth gap, and further diversity and inclusion. Perspectives and opportunities for service from thought leaders and those involved in financial literacy focused nonprofits, such as Powerful Progress, Wall Street Bound, and other organizations will also be provided. Marginalized communities have significantly lower incomes, and very limited access opportunities and access to creating intergenerational wealth. The 2019 Survey of Consumer Finances reported by the Federal Reserve indicated that wealth levels in communities of color are as much as eight times lower. This event brings together the legal community to explore ways in which we can further social impact and combat economic inequity. Non profits Powerful Progress and Wall Street Bound will be presenting, and check back for an updated list of organizations.

Pre-registration for this program is required. As always, please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues. D.C. Bar membership is not required to attend.
