South Asian Reflections on National Security: An Inter-Agency Perspective Please join SABA-DC and SABA-North America's Military Law Section for a discussion with experienced National Security Lawyers and Leaders from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of State (DoS), and the U.S. Army. 2021 has seen significant developments relevant to U.S. National Security, to include the announced withdrawal of U.S. Forces from Afghanistan, ending America’s Longest war. It is also the anniversary of significant events impacting U.S. National Security, to include being the 20th Anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, and the 10th Anniversary of the Operation (Neptune Spear) that resulted in the killing of Osama bin laden in May of 2011. These and other major events effecting U.S. National Security have all had a direct South Asian nexus, with both geo-political impacts on the region as well as reverberating effects on the South Asian diasporic community in North America. This unique panel discussion will offer insights into the experiences of several South Asian Americans with significant National Security experience who are currently serving with different federal agencies that play key roles in U.S. National Security and represent various instruments of National Power. Our panelists will offer reflections and provide perspectives into the dynamic field of contemporary National Security.
