The Office of the General Counsel (GC) provides legal advice to Agency leadership and staff on USAID. This position serves as a Legal Officer in the division in GC responsible for supporting USAID's Bureaus for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization (CPS), Humanitarian Assistance and Resilience, and Food Security. The incumbent assumes a broad range of responsibilities, primarily supporting the CPS Office of Transition Initiatives (CPS/OTI).

Responsibilities

  • Operations and administration of CPS/OTI programs;
  • Projects and activities with the authority of CPS/OTI and CPS;
  • Congressional, the Government Accountability Office, the Office of the Inspector General, and public inquiries concerning OTI matters and activities;
  • Working relationships with other U.S. Government agencies and with implementing partners; and
  • Legal interpretations of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, foreign operations appropriations legislation, and all other Acts pertinent to foreign assistance programs.
