Experienced Employment Law and Commercial Litigation Attorney (Bethesda, MD)
Paley Rothman, a nationally and locally recognized suburban law firm, is seeking an attorney to join its employment law and business litigation practice groups. This is a role with a high degree of responsibility and client contact.
We need an experienced, talented, organized individual with 4 to 8 years of experience who is capable of providing day-to-day advice to employers locally and nationally as well as litigating sophisticated employment, civil, and commercial disputes. As an attorney in the employment and business litigation groups, you will work with chairs of those groups and other partners to determine case strategy, draft and respond to discovery, draft and argue motions, negotiate and mediate claims, and try cases, among other things.
The job is fast-paced and requires flexibility and creativity but affords a great work-life balance and the ability to grow your own practice. This is a partnership-track position.
Candidates should possess superior academic credentials, have outstanding writing and research skills, and demonstrate excellent legal analysis. Employment experience should include handling employment matters such as:
- federal and state harassment and discrimination suits from inception through trial;
- non-compete litigation, wage hour audits and litigation;
- harassment investigations and internal audits;
- drafting and revising employment manuals;
- providing guidance on leave, separation, and RIFs; and
- drafting severance agreements and releases.
Litigation background must include taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing pre-trial and trial motions, preparing and responding to discovery and preparing cases for trial.
