Environmental Practice Associate

Van Ness Feldman, a nationally recognized energy, environmental, and natural resources law and policy firm seeks a junior-level associate for their Environmental Practice Group.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Solid, well-rounded foundational knowledge of regulatory policies under the Clean Air Act and California’s mobile source laws and regulations
• Strong knowledge of EPA and California Air Resources Board certification and testing requirements
• Familiarity with defect reporting requirements, both Federal and California
• Experience with mobile source enforcement and investigations
• Ability to tackle quick-turn-around research questions and to research them thoroughly and quickly, at times with minimal direction; ability to apply knowledge and experience to analyze client questions or to spot issues not identified by the client. 
• Strong analytical and writing skills; ability to write for multiple audiences (i.e., memos, talking points, business development, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills required for effective internal and client communications 
• Commitment and desire to focus on mobile source environmental matters
• Experience working in EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA)
