Job Description:
- Serve as legal counsel to the FBI and its employees in regard to civil lawsuits, administrative claims, requests for testimony and documents, representation matters, and related areas.
- Coordinate the defense of civil actions filed against the FBI and its employees under the U.S. Constitution and federal statutes, such as the Mandamus Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act.
- Work closely with the Civil Division of the Department of Justice and the respective United States Attorney's Offices to represent the interests of the FBI and its employees.
- Assist FBI employees in obtaining Department of Justice representation.
- Assist in the defense of FBI employees in depositions, prepare affidavits and declarations in support of motions, manage the civil discovery process, and provide assistance at trial and in post-trial proceedings.
- Handle the FBI's response to civil subpoena matters and provide legal advice concerning FBI potential liability for investigative and other operations.
- Defend the FBI in the most complex types of civil litigation, including cases with a nexus to national security concerns, with minimal supervision
- Provide expert legal advice and opinion to the highest levels of FBI management on all aspects of organizational legal liability risks.
- Develop professional relationships and partnerships with OGC coworkers, other FBI personnel, and representatives of other U.S. Government agencies, in support of the FBI's legal interests and equities
