Hausfeld LLP is accepting applications for a junior associate to join the firm’s Washington, DC office and work primarily in our antitrust litigation practice area.
This position offers the opportunity for extremely substantive, interesting, and challenging work with recognized leaders in the antitrust bar, including several partners recognized among the top antitrust practitioners in the world. With more than 50 lawyers in the U.S., and more than 60 in Europe, the majority of whom work in antitrust, our expertise is unrivaled. In addition to antitrust, Hausfeld attorneys litigate mass torts, environmental threats, consumer protection, and human rights cases. Our diverse team of attorneys has been appointed by federal courts to lead the nation’s most complex class actions. We have successfully litigated and negotiated some of the largest settlements ever reached in cases against multinational corporations engaged in price-fixing cartels.
Hausfeld is proud of our role representing clients in both individual and class action litigation seeking private enforcement of antitrust laws. In fact, the Legal 500 called Hausfeld “one of the most capable plaintiffs’ firms involved in the area of civil cartel enforcement,” and “[w]idely recognized as a market leader for claimant-side competition litigation.” We see our role as complementary to that of the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, in that we prosecute violations of U.S. antitrust laws to ensure fair markets and fair prices for all. Unlike the government agencies, our goal is to ensure that the victims of antitrust violations are appropriately compensated for their losses. Although no antitrust experience is necessary, applicants should be enthusiastic about this mission-driven work and the opportunity to dive into complex problem-solving challenges, while gaining experience in every area of litigation.
Associates at Hausfeld take a substantial role in investigating and analyzing potential claims, drafting legal memos, complaints, and briefs, managing all phases of discovery (including taking and defending depositions), and , preparing for and attending trials, and participating in settlement discussions for complex litigation cases, among other responsibilities. A strong academic background and excellent writing skills and analytic ability are required, as is the ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. We are looking for someone who is a team player, a self-starter, highly organized, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities. The position’s start date is flexible and applicants currently in clerkships are encouraged to apply.
Hausfeld offers generous benefits, including five weeks paid time off and paid parental leave.
